Outline

Mineral Economics and Mining Informatics Laboratory has been launched since 2021 in Akita University. Our laboratory is developing and proposing useful engineering system for the area of “Mining Engineering” and “Disaster Control Informatics” with the aid of “Geographic Information System (GIS)”, “Wireless Network Technologies”, “Advanced Sensing Technologies”, and “Machine Learning”. Also,To make recommendations on the sustainability of resource supply in a sustainable society, we are conducting research using the methods of resource economics. We are analyzing and evaluating various resource issues, from the supply of mineral resources and energy to consumption, recycling, and disposal, by modeling using methods from economics, financial engineering, and systems engineering.

Economics

Mineral economics is an interdisciplinary field that analyzes and solves economic and policy problems related to the exploration, mining, utilization, disposal, and recycling of energy and mineral resources. To solve the problems, the disciplines of engineering and science related to resources with those of economics, business administration, and social engineering are combined.

Mining

Mining engineering is our expertise area. We conduct researches for mining efficiently. In other words, our research is part of Mining 4.0 that is implementing digital technologies and automation by smart equipment, data-driven decisions, catalyze connected communications and providing easier, more affordable maintenance.

Informatics

We are trying to develop a new discipline which takes a multidisciplinary approach such as Communication, Sensing and Computing into Mining and Disaster Control. This discipline is still exploratory discipline, so it is also an important mission to systematize this discipline with a central focus on disaster control for Earthquake, Slope and Mining.
