When you successfully entered our course,
you will find that classes on science arts (mathematics, physics,
chemistry, etc.) and on liberal arts ( foreign language, etc.) start
immediately. Professional classes under Materials
Science and Engineering Course will mainly start at the 2nd or 3rd grade.
In the 4th grade, students will belong to one Laboratory among the
2 divisions, to accomplish their original graduate research. Learning
programs provided by our course are briefly summarized in the
following.

1. Liberal Arts ( 1st Grade )
Foreign
languages (chosen from English, French, German, etc.), human
studies (economics, politics, physical arts, general arts, etc.),
scientific arts (mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc.) are
to be mastered during this grade. Basic experiments of physics
and chemistry, training of information processing (computer
programming) will also be mastered.
Among classes under of Materials Science and Engineering Course
there is "Freshmen Seminar", in which students can
learn basis of materials science and engineering,
2. Professional Education ( 2nd, 3rd Grade
)
From the 2nd grade, professional classes are the main. First,
physical and chemical properties of metallic and ceramic materials
are concerned. Experiments on materials science also begin.
In "Materials Engineering Laboratory", students have
to complete reports in order to understand natural science.
Exercises on numerical calculation will be indispensable to
accomplish theoretical analysis.
Most of the classes will be provided in the building of
of Materials Science and Engineering Course, that will enrich the partnership
with professors and senior students.
3. Creative Techno-craft ( 3rd Grade )
At the 2nd semester of the 3rd grade, students are attached
to one laboratory to work on "Creative Techno-craft".
In this class, one has to create a new idea to solve some problems
in making some products or in setting up experimental equipments.
Until now, making batteries, ancient steelmaking, etc. have
been performed. Students get technique into themselves through
these activities with a lot of fun.
4. Graduation Research ( 4th Grade )
Toward
the graduation, in the 4th grade, every student works on original
graduation research in a laboratory. The research proceeds with
discussions with professors as well as colleagues. Every student
is required to master materials processing or computer controlling
of experimental devices or measurement by particular equipments.
Through these kind of experiences, students will become specialists
of materials science and engineering. If one makes an excellent
presentation on his/her thesis at the conference in February,
he/she will have an certification of graduation.
