Message from professor
Our study is focused on the immunology system, which is protecting our body from various kinds of invasions. Key question is how the immune cells are protecting our bodies from invasion by the exogenous antigens and preventing the onset and progression of the tumor cells. We are also interested in the molecular mechanism of the onset of autoimmune diseases and trying to develop novel therapeutic methods to cure such diseases.
Research is a kind of intellectual adventure. As an adventure, it is hard to reach the goal. However, once you are succeeded, you will know the answer of the question which has been never solved by any one in the world. Or you may clarify the molecular mechanisms of the immune responses and/or immune diseases,, and you may develop a novel drug to cure the diseases. Our aim is to contribute to the basic medical science and drug discovery mainly by publishing these results.
So, how can we win the adventure? For example, rushing the experiments without any preparation is just a thoughtless and sloppy trip. We should carefully study and follow the previous studies made by other researchers all over the world and we should clarify what is the open question before starting the journy. Once we started, we should listen to the voice of our data in calm without any bias to know where we are and not to lose our way in the jungle of the data. Needless to say, learning such way to solve the problems and overcome the difficulties may support your long careers after graduating our laboratory.
Now basic study is NOT ONLY BASIC. We can contribute to the real world by the result of our basic study. Won't you join our adventure to explore the scientific frontieer where no one has reached from the view point of the basic immunology?
