資源を探査するということは，地球の成り立ちを理解し，そこに資源がある理由を探求することにほかなりません．地史解析学・古環境解析学研究室は，堆積相の解析や微小な化石である石灰質ナンノ化石や浮遊性有孔虫化石の調査から過去の海洋環境（古海洋環境）復元とともに，石油地質学などの資源学分野への応用を目標に研究をおこなっています．

  Finding a new resource actually equals deep understanding earth's history. Based on analyses of sedimentary and microfossils, we focus on

paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and apply the knowledge of earth's

history for the resource exploration.

　本研究室では，IODP（国際深海科学掘削計画）で得られた海洋底の試料を用いて，地質時代の環境を復元をおこなっています．

  Our laboratory researches the paleoenvironment using marine

sediment cores recovered by IODP (International Ocean Discovery Program).

　また，秋田の中新世～更新世の地層から，秋田に油田が形成されるにいたった堆積環境の変遷を詳しく復元しています．

  We also investigate the evolution of the Akita Oil Field, based on the sedimentary analysis of the Miocene to Pleistocene deposits.
