JABEE accredited education program (Materials Science and Engineering).

JABEE (Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) is non-governmental organization (NGO) for evaluating and accrediting, that fairly examines educational programs (contents, method of education and operation, facilities, etc.) of universities or institutions of higher learning whether they satisfy demands of the society or not.

The engineering education program conducted in our department called Materials Science and Engineering (see below) was examined by a JABEE committee in November of 2004. As a result, we passed the exam and received an official certificate dated on May 12th of 2005 to state that our program meets education-quality standards required by JABEE. Accordingly, each graduate of an academic year of 2004, who had completed the curriculum of the course of Materials Science and Engineering, has been authorized as a person of completion of the JABEE-accredited education program.

The students of the JABEE-accredited education program have an advantage to get a title for 'Professional Engineer': they are exempted from the 1st examination which is required for all the candidates. In fact, the title of Professional Engineer is one of the most prestigious ones among all the engineering-related national qualifications.
